Indents using the character should be avoided. Instead, text indents should be defined in a paragraph style. This will ensure that users cannnot accidentally delete any indents.
The same is true for bullets and numbering, which can be done automatically with paragraph styles. Users cannot delete bullets or incorrectly enumerate lists created in this way.
NOTE: If you must create your own bullets by hand, please use the indent to here character to ensure that the user does not need to manually insert tabs for every line.
