Anchored Objects

Objects in InDesign can be positioned relative to the text using Anchored Objects.

Place the cursor at the text position and click Object > Anchored Object > Insert to anchor an object to that location.

As the text changes during translation, the anchored object will maintain its position relative to the correct portion of text

NOTE: If possible, anchor objects to the start or end of the section of text (i.e. not in the middle). This makes it easier to ensure that the anchor characters are not editable. Workflow issues may occur if these inline characters are deleted during translation.

NOTE: Images that occur in the text (e.g. logos, products, etc.) can be placed directly in the text as inline graphics.

NOTE: If you have many graphics to accompany the text, all with different indents, consider creating the layout using tables.

These options can ensure that objects on a spread maintain their correct positions.
