This section describes the 'Edit' menu in the 'Templates' tab.
NOTE:
Please note that this section only describes the menu options at a high-level. For more in-depth explanations, please refer to the appropriate parts of the manual.
'Edit > Cut & Paste'
The 'Cut' command copies the selected template to a temporary storage. Use the 'Paste' command to move the 'cut' template to the selected folder.
- In the example above, we 'cut' the template from the folder 'Templates'.
- We then select our target folder, 'Second Folder', which is currently empty.
- Clicking 'Edit > Paste' will move the template into this folder.
- We can see that the folder 'Templates' is now empty because the template has been moved to the other folder.
NOTE:
The template will only disappear from its original location once it has been pasted to a new folder. In other words, nothing happens until the 'paste' command is executed.
'Edit > Copy & Paste'
The 'Copy' command copies the selected template to temporary storage. Use the 'Paste' command to create a copy of the template in the selected folder.
- In the example above, we 'copy' the template that is in the folder 'Templates'.
- We then select a target folder, 'Second Folder', which is currently empty.
- Clicking 'Edit > Paste' will copy the template into this folder.
- We can see that the original template is still in the folder 'Templates', i.e., the original template has been duplicated.
NOTE:
The name of the copied template will not differ from the original. Only the ID will change.
'Edit > Duplicate'
The 'Duplicate' command duplicates the selected template in the current folder.
NOTE:
The name of the copied template will not differ from the original. Only the ID will change.
'Edit > Delete'
The 'Delete' command deletes the currently selected template(s) or folder.
- Select a template (or folder) and click 'Edit > Delete'.
- If you are sure that you wish to delete the selected item, click 'Yes' in the pop-up window.
- The selected item has now been deleted.
NOTE:
There is no 'undo' option here, so please be certain that you have selected the correct item to delete.
'Edit > Properties' (Folder)
If a folder (1) is selected, the 'Edit > Properties' option will open the 'Folder Details' window.
Using this window, you can rename the folder or assign read/write access permissions to it.
'Edit > Properties' (Template)
If a template (1) is selected, the 'Edit > Properties' option will open the 'Template Details' window.
- Within the 'Properties' tab you can update the name and description for your template.
- The 'Default Version' and 'Default Description' fields allow you to define a name and description that will be assigned to any version document created by this template.
- Furthermore, you have the option to allow the editor to change these default settings, or to start new jobs based on archived (finished) version documents.
- The 'Document' field allows you to change the master document from which the template will create versions or duplicates.
- The 'Mode' can be set to 'Create Version' (i.e. create a version document for the master) or 'Create Duplicate' (i.e. create another master document).
- You can drag workflows into the 'Workflows' tab. When you select a workflow in the 'Workflows' tab, you can add users for whom that workflow will start to the bottom half of this tab.
- The 'Metadata' tab can be used to tag documents with XML code.
- Click 'Save' or 'Apply' to save any changes that you make.
