To edit a text segment within one2edit™, you first need to open the 'Text Editing' window in your 'Job Editor'.
There are two ways to do this:
Option 1: Click on 'Text Item'
In the 'Job Editor' window, the yellow content markers show which items of content still need to be edited (i.e. they have not been marked as 'Done').
Clicking on a piece of text that has one of these yellow markers (1) will open the 'Text Editing' window.
NOTE:
You must make sure that the 'Edit' tool (2) is selected. If a different tool is selected (e.g. the 'Zoom' tool) then the 'Text Editing' window will not open.
Edit text and apply changes to document
Edit the text within the 'Text Editing' window.
When you are finished, click the 'Apply' button (i.e. the check mark) (1), and your changes will be saved and rendered in the document preview.
NOTE:
Any changes will be automatically applied to the document when you click on an item in another frame, click on the paste-board/background, or when you switch to another spread.
Continue to edit text segments
If you wish to edit another text segment, you do not need to close the 'Text Editing' window. Simply click on the new text segment and the content of the 'Editing' window will be updated.
'Previous Item' & 'Next Item' buttons
You can use the 'Previous Item' and 'Next Item' buttons (1) to navigate through the content of a text frame (2).
NOTE:
The next/previous order of the items within a frame may not be in the sequence that they appear on the page. This is normal behaviour and has to do with the underlying InDesign file.
Enlarge text in the 'Text Editing' window
You can use the 'Zoom' slider (1) to change the display size of text in the 'Text Editing' window.
This slider is for usability purposes only, and has no effect on the font size in the document.
'Undo' & 'Redo' buttons
When editing a text segment, you can undo (1) or redo (2) changes made to that segment.
NOTE:
This will only work for changes made during a single one2edit™ session. Changes made to a text segment during a previous one2edit session cannot be 'undone' in this way.
'Pipette' button
If a part of the document contains the wrong text format, the 'Pipette' button enables you to easily copy and apply the correct text format attributes.
(1) Select text
Select the text element containing the wrong text format. The text editor will then open by default.
(2) Highlight text
Highlight the text part you want to format (in this case the whole sentence) within the 'Text Editor' window.
(3) Select 'Pipette' button
After highlighting a text the 'Pipette' button becomes available. Click on the 'Pipette' button to activate the tool.
(4) Select revision
Within your 'Revisions' menu in the 'Info' panel select the revision that contains the desired text format. The first available revision will always contain the master document's original text format.
(5) Click 'Apply'
After clicking the 'Apply' button the selected text format will be applied to the highlighted text.
(6) NOTE:
By selecting a revision, ONLY the text format will be transferred. The highlighted text will NOT be changed back.
Save Changes and Exit
When you are done editing, be sure to save your changes by clicking on the 'Save' button (i.e. the diskette icon) (1).
You can then close the 'Job Editor' by clicking on the 'Close Document' icon (2).
NOTE:
If you attempt to exit the 'Job Editor' without saving changes, you will be automatically prompted to do so. In other words, it is very difficult to forget to save your changes.
