If a file (e.g. an image) linked to an Adobe® InDesign® document cannot be found by InDesign, that link will be marked as Missing. This is also the case with Adobe InDesign Server, as used by one2edit™.
Missing links need to be relinked to the document, to ensure that the high-resolution links are used when creating a PDF.
NOTE: one2edit™ automatically checks for a Links subfolder when linking an InDesign document as a project. If your links were uploaded to a folder that was not named Links, or not uploaded at all, then they will be marked as missing.
Outdated and Missing Links
Check under Project Details > Links to see if any of your Links are outdated or missing.
- Outdated links are marked with a warning triangle.
- An outdated link is still present, but it has been modified since being linked with this document. Please refer to the article about outdated links to resolve this.
- Missing links are marked with a broken link icon.
- A missing link is a linked file that cannot be found. You will need to tell one2edit™ (and Adobe® InDesign® Server) where the link can be found. This may require you to upload the missing file, or simply choose where it was uploaded to.
- If you have reason to think that one or more links may be outdated or missing, but none are marked as such, click the Validate button to run a check for this document.
NOTE: This article does not cover the steps for relinking outdated links.
Document Info Panel > Links
In the source document, expand the Links section of the Document Info panel.
All of this document's links are listed here, with any appropriate warning symbols next to them.
Click Broken-Link to relink Outdated Links
- Click the broken-link icon next to a missing link. This opens a dialog where you can select the missing file (or to upload the file, if required).
- Select the appropriate file and click Choose.
- If required, you can upload the missing file and then choose it.
- one2edit™ will search in the same folder for any other missing links. If any are found, you will see the Relink Missing Assets dialog, where you can choose which, if any, to automatically relink.
- Once you have made your selection, click OK to relink all selected missing links at once.
- The broken-link icons disappear, and your links have been relinked.
- Now you can save your changes.
